2021 January review

No one wished for 2021 to start with another lockdown. If you are an extrovert like me, we are in the same boat, struggling with minimal social contact, which usually keeps us up and running. Introverts, you lucky bastards. I hope you are making the most of this time.

To keep myself busy, I have set some goals for myself this month, which is helping a lot to stay sane.

I am proud of setting these goals and sticking to them. I have never been a New Year's resolution person. I always thought this was an excuse for people waiting for that magic Monday moment to change something in their lives. But, thanks to these goals, I settled into a daily routine of an active and healthy lifestyle. I enjoyed it and looking forward to keeping up with my new daily routine.

#1 Dry Jan

You might think it is not a big deal, but anyone who loves wine as I was will understand it is an accomplishment not to have a glass of red with dinner. I loved to enjoy a bottle of red with my partner sometime to time, but we both agreed that not having it for a month was a good idea, and we are more than sure to cut down our weekly intakes. As a result, we can both concentrate for a longer time and feel much more motivated every morning.

#2 Digital Minimalism

I started it before Xmas, which you can read about here, and I will implement that concept for good in my life. I have time to catch up with my social media on Saturday for around 30 minutes. Mostly I use this time to redirect my friends to contact me via mobile phone only.

Removing social media apps from my phone was the best thing I could do. It saves lots of time, which I can use for much more exciting stuff.

If you are interested in the topic, look at "Digital Minimalism ". It is a book by Cal Newport. The author explains the importance of managing your time spent in the digital world and advises how to do it (which surprisingly isn't apparent for everyone).

#3 Yoganuary

Every day before work, I do a yoga flow with Cat Meffan, a lovely human being and a talented yoga teacher who always motivates and brings joy throughout the session. I have returned to my daily yoga flow routine to calm my mind and maintain body strength. If you have yet to try it, now is the best time to learn something new and learn to take care of yourself.

#4 Veganuary

Since I remember, I always wanted to eliminate meat from my diet, and it was never easy as I was raised on a meat-based diet and was always surrounded by carnivore friends. I have reduced it but never removed it from my diet. Thanks to my partner, I have learned how to maintain life without meat. For over a month now, I have been a vegetarian. I am pleased that I have finally accomplished that.

#5 Blog post every Thursday

Yes! I am persistent in writing my blog, and it has been exactly a month since I created the Students' Perspective. I love this routine, and I am excited about this new journey! But the best is yet to come.

I wish you fruitful and full of joy February,

Bye for now!
