“How not to die” book review

Did you realise how the world has accelerated in recent years, and then suddenly everything changed? The pandemic forced us to slow down, step back and look at our lives. I have seen people changing their habits in a matter of weeks. So did I. The most significant impact on my life was a dietary change. "How not to die" is a foundation of life knowledge and dietary proposal that everyone should consider or at least hear about.

I was thrilled to hear that my vegetarian lifestyle inspired my sister and mum. They found this book and said it was a huge inspiration to follow a plant-based diet. Therefore I had to dive in and see what Michael Greger wrote about that has convinced my family to change their lifestyles too!

I have been learning about the vegan lifestyle and following one for a couple of months. Cheese and eggs were the only animal products left in my fridge; therefore, my partner and I decided not to buy animal products anymore. This book strengthens my belief that what we do is good.

How not to die?

Although death is inevitable, this book can guide you towards making conscious choices about your diet and lifestyle that will promote both mental and physical health and potentially increase longevity.

This incredible scientific knowledge proves that diet can even reverse the causes of diseases! But unfortunately, food producers and pharmaceutical companies are in control of our food recommendations which is at the cost of human health.

The best way to minimise your exposure to industrial toxins may be to eat a plant-based diet as low as possible on the food chain.

In the book's first part, the author proposes changes in dietary habits and lifestyle, which can reverse or prevent many common diseases. The second part is dedicated to superfoods, explains what it does in the human body, gives examples of when and how to eat them, and, most importantly, how cheap and straightforward self-care can be!

The most crucial take-out from this read was the harmfulness and volume of the medication doctors are keen to prescribe to patients (instead of urging on good dietary habits and advocating the power of healthy food). And I think this is why people underestimate the power of basic, easily accessible food products and lifestyle habits.

The book 'How Not to Die' provides great food for thought. Adapting and experimenting with these few lifestyle and dietary habits could bring good results. It won't harm, for sure. I hope I encouraged you to give it a read and learn some incredible stuff from this book.

Thank you for visiting,

Bye-bye for now!
