Undergraduate study 2021 / COVID-19
Before I applied to the university in 2018, I took a break. A relatively long one. That time I used to polish my soft skills, self-development, and save money.
Why am I talking about it?
I have heard and read a lot about students' struggles and stress caused by the pandemic.
If you are determined, self-motivated and know what you want to study – do it.
But if you are in doubt, unsure if it is the right time to go to university, and what's most important, you're not sure what you want to study – don't put too much pressure on yourself and think about taking a gap year.
The forms of teaching in 2021 are still uncertain. It will likely be online teaching, which may not be the best experience.
I loved going into university buildings. Face-to-face teaching is precious simply because it is engaging, exciting and entertaining.
Online learning is stressful, and not having an opportunity to meet your coursemates and hang out with them is simply unfair – considering time spent at university the best time of your life.
Therefore, to avoid disappointment, I advise focusing on self-development and self-care rather than throwing yourself into the unknown, especially in the diametrically changing marketing industry where we must "unlearn what we have learned" so far.
